Self-Advocacy

Self-Advocacy

Self-advocacy means speaking or acting for yourself. It means deciding what is best for you and taking charge of getting what you want. It means standing up for your rights as a person. The Department of Developmental Services believes that all of the people we provide services to can benefit from learning and using self advocacy skills. New England Residential Services Inc. is proud to mark the one year anniversary of its self-advocacy group which have called themselves “THE PROBLEM SOLVERS”. There are nine committee members each have a voice and vote. The group has grown in their insight and freedom to speak on the topics they have chosen to pursue over the last year and there has been growth in many of the members showing respect for their fellow committee members.
